Each term we have a different topic and theme, which we follow and link to our learning. This is where our learning starts, We follow our children's interests and plan and provide play based activities based on their interests as well.

‘Mini Beasts and Senses & Health and Hygiene ’

These are our topics for this term. For the first half term we will be talking and learning about ‘Mini Beasts’. We will be focusing on a different Mini beast each week. These will be Bees and wasps, spiders, worms, Slugs and snails, Butterflies and mini-beast patterns.

After half term we will be learning about ‘Senses and Health and Hygiene’. We will be looking at our 5 senses, one a week and then focus on our health and hygiene.

If you have any photographs, books or information about any of these topics, please feel free to email or bring them in for us to show everyone.

All our activities will be based around these themes relating to the 7 areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Physical, Expressive arts and design, Understanding the world, Mathematics, Communication and Language, Literacy and Personal, Social, Emotional Development.

We will be sending out our weekly activities again this term. They will be based around our topic and just extends your child’s learning at home. If you have a chance to complete it, please return it to the nursery for us to talk about and then put in your child’s folder.

The Nursery has a Uniform, this consists of a green jumper and yellow polo shirt with the Nursery logo on the front. Please ask a member of staff for details. An example will be on display in the cloakroom. Please ask a member of staff if you would like to order any uniform.

We have funded places for 2, 3 and 4 year olds available, please ring for details. We also have spaces available for children receiving the 30 hours funding.

Please find us on Facebook and ‘like us’. We put information, videos and pictures of activities that the children have been doing whilst at nursery.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

We provide an environment in which all children, including those with special educational needs, are supported to reach their full potential.

The Children and Families Act 2014 (Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice 2014) sets out requirement for Early Years settings to support children with SEND.

With regards and following the requirements of the Equality Act (2010), we ensure our provision is inclusive to all children with special educational needs and disability.

We support parents and children with Special Educational needs and meet those needs through a range of SEND strategies.

We work closely in partnership with parents and other agencies in meeting individual children's needs. We monitor and review our policy, practice and provision and, if necessary, make adjustments.

East Riding Local Offer

What is East Riding Local Offer? This is where you can find a range of services available in the East Riding area to support parents, children and young people aged 0–25 years with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).

The Local Offer provides information for children and young people with special educational needs (SEND) and their parents or carers in a single place. It shows families what they can expect from a range of local agencies including education, health and social care.

The Local Offer is a way to make it easier for you to find out about services and support available to children and young people from birth to 25 years with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

30 HOURS FUNDING

If both parents of 3 & 4 year olds are working 16 hours or more, then you may be eligible to access the 30 hours funding. This starts the term after their 3rd birthday.  If you log on to the GOV website and fill the forms in, then if you are eligible you will be given a code starting with 500, which you then bring to us.

Parents already accessing the 30 hours will need to log on to their GOV account every 3 months or termly to confirm their details have not changed or provide further information if they have, so that their ongoing entitlement can be established by HMRC.

You must make sure you re-confirm your details online every term as if you do not, you will lose your additional 15 hours and could be charged.

New 2 year old funding

There is 15 hours funding available for working parents of 2 year olds, which starts in April 2024, after Easter.

If you go on the childcare choices website and it will show you the criteria and how to apply for it. It is similar to the 30 hours funding when applying.

Oral Health

The new EYFS 2021 reform now requires nurseries to promote the oral health of children. We play lots of different games and read books based around good oral health and visiting the dentist regularly. We regularly have the 'dentist box' from manor road surgery, which is brilliant and has lots of different resources for the children to explore and learn from.

Water and milk are our preferred drinks in the nursery and are encouraged at all times. The children's knowledge is increasing on how they can make good choices and protect their teeth.
